Our gorgeous Community Dog Elm arrived after October midterm 2025. Coming from Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind, Elm is a highly trained working dog who has quickly established her place in Mercy College Sligo and indeed in the hearts of both staff and students.

Research suggests many benefits of having a dog in the education setting. At Mercy College, we have noticed a significant improvement in areas such as well-being, anxiety and school attendance while providing a real boost to staff and student morale. Elm’s unique support is felt each day in the smiles that greet her as she walks through the corridors.

Thank you, Elm, for the positive and calming impact on all who meet you.
