The Equestrian Club, provides students with unique opportunities to develop confidence, responsibility, and teamwork through working with horses. Horses offer so many benefits for young people — helping to improve communication skills, emotional wellbeing, resilience, and self-esteem, while also encouraging patience, empathy, and leadership. Having access to equestrian activities within a school setting is a wonderful resource that allows students to learn valuable life skills outside the classroom in a supportive and enjoyable environment.
This year, club members enjoyed two exciting trips to different equestrian centres. Beginner riders took part in lessons where they learned the fundamentals of riding and horse care, while more advanced riders had the opportunity to enjoy scenic treks and further develop their riding skills. As a special end-of-year trip, students visited the world-renowned Irish National Stud in Kildare, where they explored the beautiful grounds, learned about Ireland’s rich equestrian heritage, and gained insight into the care and breeding of thoroughbred horses. The Equestrian Club continues to be a hugely positive and rewarding experience for students, and we look forward to another exciting year ahead.
