Green Schools and Global Citizenship Club

Mercy College’s Green Schools Committee plays an active role in promoting environmentally responsible behaviours throughout our school community. We encourage correct waste disposal through clear recycling systems and awareness campaigns, helping students and staff reduce landfill waste. We also highlight the importance of conserving water, reminding everyone to be mindful of usage in classrooms and shared spaces. In addition, we promote sustainable transport choices such as walking, cycling, and carpooling to help reduce our
overall carbon footprint.

Beyond sustainability, our work emphasises the human dimension of environmental action. We explore how our choices impact people locally and globally, fostering empathy and responsibility. By linking our initiatives with the Global Citizenship Education (GCE) pillars—such as respect for diversity, social justice, and sustainable development—we encourage students to think critically about their role in creating a fairer, more sustainable world for all.
