Aims of the Transition Year Programme
To support the holistic development of each student by fostering intellectual, social, physical, spiritual, and emotional maturity, in line with the student dimension of the Transition Year Programme.
Promoting Meaningful Personal Growth
To build on and extend the learning experiences of the Junior Cycle, while nurturing the student’s identity as a confident, reflective, and self-aware individual, promoting meaningful personal growth.
To develop effective study habits and learning strategies appropriate to Senior Cycle and Third Level, encouraging students to become independent, self-directed, and reflective learners (Being a Learner dimension).
We aim to cultivate a strong sense of responsibility and self-efficacy, enabling students to become socially aware, active, and responsible citizens who can engage meaningfully with the wider world (Civic and Community Engagement).
To promote the importance of positive interpersonal relationships through teamwork, collaboration, and project-based learning, helping students to respect diversity, communicate effectively, and contribute constructively within groups.
To provide opportunities for students to explore and engage with their communities through active participation, service, and civic initiatives, fostering empathy, leadership, and a commitment to the common good.
To enable students to explore the world of work and future career pathways through meaningful experiences such as work placements, enterprise activities, and engagement with employers (Career Exploration).
To empower students to develop essential life skills, including communication, critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration, preparing them to navigate the challenges and opportunities of adult life.
