Mercy College Sligo proudly takes part in the Stripe Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition, encouraging students to explore scientific ideas, creativity, and problem-solving beyond the classroom.
Students work independently, in pairs, or in teams of three to develop projects across a wide range of scientific and technological categories, guided and supported by their teachers throughout the process. Participation in the Young Scientist fosters curiosity, innovation, and confidence, giving students the opportunity to showcase their work at a national level and engage with like-minded peers from schools across the country. In Mercy College Sligo, participation is open to students of all year groups.
In 2026, a pair of transition year students exhibited their project “Tiny Algae: Using Microalgae and Enzymes to Purify Azo Dye-Contaminated Water” at the RDS in Dublin where they received a commended ribbon for their research!
